For me the most powerful moment was when one minister spoke out to those who disagreed with the decision. He said, “Although we can disagree on this issue, there are some basics on which we CAN agree. Committed, loving relationships are good for God’s people. They make us healthy and happy, and they strengthen our faith. Those who are blessed by these relationships are generally more self-confident and well-adjusted. They have more energy with which to serve the needs of others. They have instant support when going through hard times. Healthy relationships do all that for us. They are a blessing.”
Whether we agree with others or not the reality is we are all interconnected. We all have the same feelings and needs. We are all compassionate by nature. The ability to contribution is our greatest need. That is what Paul called the Body of Christ.
